Masters Games tennis started yesterday and singles matches took place at both Logan Park and the Edgar Centre.
Some grades were combined, as there were not enough in each grade to justify a full day's play.
The doubles have proved popular and, in all, 260 entries have been received for tennis.
Players are aged from late 30s into their 80s.
Many of the older players had the benefit of covering up at the indoor Edgar Centre, but whether that was an advantage on a pleasant Dunedin day was debatable.
Fraser Richardson (left, 47), of Dunedin, looks to play a backhand in the singles and Jim Harrington (53), of Cromwell, gets ready to hit a forehand in the singles, both at the tennis centre at Logan Park.
