The popular Christmas Music in the Dell event, presented by Port Chalmers & District Lions, will start at 2.30pm and will be compered by Hannah Pearson, with music from the Dunedin Salvation Army Band and Dunedin Harmony Chorus.
The pre-Christmas celebration is an ideal way for the community to enjoy the beauty of the Lady Thorn Dell, which was once the old Port Chalmers quarry famous for its breccia rock.
This rock was used in many of the historic stone buildings in Port Chalmers and Dunedin city.
The quarry has been transformed into a rhododendron dell by the local Port Chalmers & District Lions club over the past 24 years.
Entry to the event is free, but there will be an opportunity to make a gold coin donation to the Salvation Army Christmas appeal.
A free shuttle will operate from outside the Port Chalmers Four Square to the dell from 1.30 pm.
If the weather is inclement, the event will be transferred to the Port Chalmers Town Hall in Grey St.
