About 90 club members attended the meeting, which also marked the first anniversary of the club’s shift to the Blind Low Vision Social Hall.
Dunedin 60+ Club president Moira Ingham was returned as president for another year.
She will be supported by a committee comprising Noel Stanaway (immediate past president), Len Leith (secretary), Carol Pool (treasurer), and committee members John Rhodes, Pat Tutty, Keith Beck, Carol Adler-Morgan, Bob Morgan, and Anne Simpson.
In her report, the president noted the strong attendance of members at monthly meetings, and the various interest groups which are the strength of the club, and paid tribute to the efforts of those who run them.
To recognise these efforts, a small selection of volunteers were celebrated with certificates of appreciation (some in absentia).
The 2023 certificate recipients were Lorraine McMillan (line dancers), Kelley Gardner (website), John Jensen (sixties cyclists), sisters-in-law Jan Paterson and Jan Paterson (who welcome people at the door).
The Dunedin 60+ Club has listened to many speakers over the past year, as well as enjoying the club’s mid-winter and end-of-year functions, organised by the social committee.
President Moira promised another full programme in the year ahead, including the mid-winter function and afternoon tea on July 5.
The trial of Social Wednesdays, held on the third Wednesday of each month, will continue for one more month, and then be reviewed. The next Wednesday gathering will be on June 21.
- The next monthly meeting of the Dunedin 60+ Club will be on June 7. Doors open at 1pm for a 1.30pm start. Entry $2. Guest speaker will be Prof Jim Mann, who will discuss nutrition.
