''Jumping the shark'' is a phrase used to describe the point where something has passed its peak, usually highlighted by one especially far-fetched event (think The Fonz, on waterskis and wearing his leather jacket, jumping over a shark in an unforgettable episode of Happy Days).

Reality TV shows jump the shark on a regular basis and this book pokes fun at the silliness of the concepts as well as the idea that anything about these shows is actually real.

Life is good for Kat Kelly. She has a beautiful house with her standoffish partner Miles and a wonderful, loving relationship with his daughter Bonnie.

She also has a job she loves, scouting locations for a TV production company.

Things start unravelling when her latest job, Survivor CBD (yes, Survivor set on the mean streets of Melbourne) gets out of hand.

As the pressure builds, relationships are tested and loyalties, or lack thereof, are revealed.

With the exception of one genuinely sad storyline, this is a fun, quick read with the ridiculousness of reality TV providing most of the laughs.
