Corbin Bleu made a surprise return to 'High School Musical 4' auditions.

The 27-year-old actor, who rose to fame in 2006 when he starred in the Disney Channel original movie 'High School Musical' as Chad Danforth, surprised young hopefuls during auditions for the upcoming High School Musical 4 (HSM 4).

Bleu, who reprised the role in the sequels 'High School Musical 2' (2007) and 'High School Musical 3: Senior Year' (2008), stopped by the Anaheim Convention Centre, in California on Sunday (local time) where youngsters were auditioning for a part in the sequel to pass on some words of advice to almost 5000 future stars.

Speaking to The Disney Channel at the auditions, Bleu said: "I may have surprised them today but they surprised me. It was incredible to see how many people were coming out to be part of the 'High School Musical' experience, and just the excitement - it's very nostalgic. It's very beautiful to see that it still holds true. I guess the part I really wanted the kids to take away today is that there are two aspects about them being here today, it's about putting in that hard work - which they've already done because they've already prepped and all they can do at this point is go in and do their best. And the second and I think, most important, is to have fun."

The previous 'High School Musical' film sequels also starred Zac Efron as Troy Bolton and Vanessa Hudgens as Gabriella Montez.

It's rumoured that actress Merit Leighton being considered for the female lead.

'High School Musical 4' is written by Dan Berendsen and HSM alumni Peter Barsocchini.
