All the better to land the title role in Red Riding Hood, the new action/romance that gives the fairy tale about the original girl in the hood a more supernatural spin.
"That's what made me think of her. So we measured her and she won," jokes director Catherine Hardwicke. "Look at her, she's a fairy-tale character."
Even co-star Gary Oldman admits the camera adores Seyfried's face.
Eyes aside, Hardwicke knew Seyfried was perfect after seeing her in diverse roles in musical Mamma Mia! and drama Chloe.
"I was like, 'That chick can do anything'," she says.
Seyfried needed to do more than look as if she just stepped out of a fairy tale. She had to portray the character as vulnerable but strong - not a damsel in distress.
"She's like this young, strong female who is going through her life and realising her sexuality and trying to navigate herself through her young adult life in this medieval village," Seyfried says.
She likes fearless characters, and this character had to find the courage to deal with both a complicated love triangle and over-protective parents.
The cape and massive wooden sets helped her slip into character.
"It was kind of a big deal when the cape came on the set because it's kind of its own character, because it's the most iconic piece of the story. After a while, it was no big deal. I kind of got sick of it because it was really heavy but it was so beautifully designed," Seyfried says.
"The set couldn't have been better. I felt like I was transported back in time and it really helped to get into the moment, especially dealing with all of these supernatural elements."
She particularly enjoyed working with veteran actress Julie Christie, who plays her grandmother. They share the "what big eyes you have" scene.
And speaking of big, Amanda Seyfried, what a big sense of humour you have.
Seyfried describes the audition process to find her male suitors: "Fifteen thousand men lined up, I opened my mouth and we made out."
And, as to why the "Little" was dropped from the original title, Seyfried says, "It's because of the size of my breasts."
