Matilda Rice is rethinking her social media policy following two online gaffes.
The winner of The Bachelor NZ says even her boyfriend Art Green didn't get her latest "joke".
Rice had been criticised by Flight of the Conchord's Jemaine Clement after she tweeted a joke about New Zealand shop assistants in response to a hashtag started by comedian Guy Williams.
Rice wrote: "SA: "would you like to donate an extra $2 to help children in poverty?" Me: "Just the scarf thanks." SA: "Bitch.""
In response, Clement brought up Rice's job and accused her of being cheap.
He said: "Was curious what kind of person wouldn't give $2 to kids in poverty. "Account exec at mediaworks". Ah okay," he wrote.
Discussing the incident on More FM, Rice said the tweet was a joke and thought that Clement was joking too.
"I thought he was joking so I retweeted because I thought it was funny, but it turns out he was serious which was a bit awkward," she said.
And she revealed that even her Bachelor boyfriend Art Green didn't get the joke.
"That's almost worst, that I tried to make a joke, no one got it and everyone thinks it's serious," she said.
The couple also attracted criticism last month when they attented Colin Mathura-Jeffree's Bollywood-themed birthday party, with Green painting his face brown for the occasion.
Rice had posted a picture of Green on Twitter and Instagram, describing him as a "chocolate covered treat".
"That was in hindsight, maybe not the best thing to do," Rice told More FM.
She said she would be reviewing her social media policy in the aftermath of the two online gaffes.
"I think I will have to be a little more careful with that sort of thing," she said. "I don't know who it is but someone is watching my Twitter very closely."
