CD Reviews: Billie Joe and Norah

In 1958, following a year of enormous success as a rockabilly-pop duo, the Everly Brothers went back to their roots and recorded an album of traditional numbers.

Songs Our Daddy Taught Us is now given a respectful makeover by Green Day's Billie Joe Armstrong and the ever-adaptable Norah Jones, who rework and reorder the songs to broaden the '50s references and instrumental backings.

Fans of close-harmony singing will appreciate the seamless fit of this pairing, and the restraint they've shown in not messing too much with what remains some inspirational and influential source material.
