• Auckland noisy surf rock band The Conjurors are heading to Chick's Hotel tonight for two overdue shows, celebrating their extraordinarily powerful vinyl-only EP The Six Trials Of Hercules. Support from Bad Sav.
• Dunedin micro-label Fishrider Records on Friday celebrates seven years of releasing music with a floral-themed show and album releases from Males and Trick Mammoth, at Chick's Hotel.
Astro Children will also play their final Dunedin show for six months before singer/guitarist Millie Lovelock departs for Canada. Opening the night will be Kane Strang, recently returned from Germany, and currently recording his third album with Adrian Ng, of the Attic.
• Heavy dub trio Left or Right come out of hibernation next Saturday for a Christmas show at Chick's Hotel. Support from Little Smith Band, the Fu King, and Christchurch's No Broadcast.
• After a year of touring international and locally, noise punk/pop three-piece Die! Die! Die! returns to Dunedin for an end-of-year party at Chick's Hotel on New Year's Eve. The trio is currently working on material for a fifth full-length album (following on from 2012's Harmony), so expect to hear new material alongside the classics. Support from Opposite Sex, Males and Psychic Maps.
• Hugely influential electronic duo Matmos (Drew Daniel and MC Shmidt) will perform for the first time in New Zealand early next year, bringing their signature blend of mutant electronica and audio visual extravagance to audiences around the country.
Known as much for their visually dazzling live performances as for their Mensa-level conceptual backflips, Matmos hits the sweet spot between super-fun and finely honed beat-driven dance/psychedelia.
