British rock band Coldplay has confirmed a Mt Smart Stadium gig in November in what is being hailed as the biggest show of the summer.

Backing up on a promise made back in March, the chart-toppers have now released details of their biggest-ever tour of New Zealand Australia.

The seven-time Grammy Award winners will play outdoors at Mt Smart Stadium on November 10 - as well as three dates across the Tasman.

Frontman Chris Martin told the NZ Herald: "We can't wait to get back to New Zealand this November.

"It's such a special place for us. The venue is pretty huge, the New Zealand crowds are always incredible and we'll be bringing everything we've got. It's going to be big.''

Tickets for the Auckland show go on sale at 9am on May 25 and start at $99.
