Music Education Otago co-chairwoman Alison Caldwell said about 200 children from 10 Dunedin schools spent the morning with the high-energy larger-than-life brass collective Hot Potato Band from Sydney, Australia.
The band hosted a workshop and performed a concert for the Dunedin pupils at Tahuna Intermediate.
The children had the opportunity to play marimbas, xylophones, chime bars, glockenspiels, trumpets, clarinets and saxophones.
They had been rehearsing for weeks to prepare for the event and were excited to meet the band.
