On the floor: As quiet as it gets

Andrew Wilson of Auckland-based Die! Die! Die!, is pleased 2010 has been a quieter year for the band.

However, the band has released its album Form in New Zealand and Australia, as well as starting to record its next album.

He says having a bit more time was a highlight, but there have also been lowlights.

"Highlights this year: Getting to spend a lot of time at home for the first time in five years.

Reacquainting myself with things like writing songs and not having to worry about where my passport is every week.

"Lowlights: I wanted to get Form out overseas around the same time as it was released in New Zealand and Australia but I guess we can't have control over those things.

"Also, reacquainting myself with Auckland rent has been a bummer."

While they've not been flat-out, Wilson says it has been a year of achieving some goals.

"We have written and recorded a lot of music.

"But when I say it has been quiet, it just means we have played like 70 shows, not the usual 150-200 shows."

Don't expect to see much from the band in 2011, unless you're not in New Zealand, he says.

"Form is released in Europe and UK on April 1, so we are going to be touring over there a lot.

"We also have a tour of China and Southeast Asia booked after our European tour, where we are booked to play a few festivals, which should be pretty crazy.

"We also plan to release our new album middle of the year everywhere."
