The nominees for the coveted Song of the Year includes Tim Minchin with his socially charged song Come Home (Cardinal Pell) and also Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds for Skeleton Tree from the band's 16th album of the same name.
For the first time a voting academy made up of previous nominees of the award including The Preatures' Isabella Manfredi and Jack Moffitt, Katie Noonan, Troy Cassar-Daley and Paul Mac, will determine the winner of Song of the Year.
Songwriter of the Year will be decided upon by the Apra board of directors.
The Apra Music Awards will take place at the ICC in Sydney on April 3 and will be hosted by Julia Zemiro.
