The Los Angeles Sheriff's Department says in a news release the rocker was stopped around 8pm on Sunday (local time) after a deputy spotted him speeding in his 1963 Corvette on Pacific Coast Highway.
The department states a test showed Springfield's blood-alcohol content was .10 percent, which is over the .08 limit in which a percent is presumed to be drunk.
The singer was released on Monday around 2am and is due in a courtroom in Malibu for a first appearance on July 5.
A phone message for Springfield's publicist Kim Jackwerth was not immediately returned.
