TVNZ game show Wheel of Fortune will finish in the middle of the year, a casualty of the economic recession, the broadcaster says.
TVNZ's general manager of commissioning, Andrew Shaw, said the daily 5.30pm show was popular "but like all local programming it was expensive to make and the impact of the recession meant it was not achieving an adequate return from advertising".
He said despite the efforts of producers to cut costs, this had not been successful.
TVNZ had decided to divert its resources into protecting its peak-time programming.
"This is simply a reflection of the times."
