A designated theatre suite assistant (TSA) for theatre 6 has made such a difference to patient flow that the Wednesday cataract list is now able to book ten patients instead of the usual eight.

The OPAL Unit was opened in Ward 6ATR with the aim to see, treat and care for medically stable older patients with as little delays as possible. 122 patients have been through the Unit to date.
