My mother worked so my grandmother used to bring me home from kindergarten. She had an old-fashioned blender sitting on the kitchen bench. In the blender were chocolate fish, and I was allowed one each day if I behaved well.

What is your message?

Dogs that have been been cared for and made part of a family can enhance children's livesthrough the activities they are able to do with their dogs.

If you were going to an island and could only take three things, what would they be and why?

A toothbrush, for hygiene, because you want to keep yourself looking good, even on an island. My husband, for someone to talk to and company. And a dog, because I don't go anywhere without at least one of my dogs.

What smell do you find irresistible?

Roses. For me, it is the smell of summer.

You are a new addition to the crayon box. What colour are you, and why?

Yellow. It is the colour of sunshine and happiness. The dogs I'm involved with bring happiness to my life and the lives of others.
