Four shots fired into Sydney home

There has been yet another shooting in Sydney, with four shots fired into a home in the western suburbs.

A woman and her two children, aged 3 and 6, were in their home in Coleridge Road, Wetherill Park when the drive-by shooting happened just after 1am (AEDT) on Tuesday but were unhurt, police said.

It is the ninth shooting in Sydney in eight days.

A crime scene has been established and investigations are continuing.

Following the recent spate of shootings, Police Minister Mike Gallacher announced on Monday that the NSW Crime Commission had offered the force its "coercive" powers.

The Crime Commission can compel witnesses to provide evidence and can even access bank and tax records.

Acting Deputy Commissioner Dave Hudson said the Crime Commission's powers of coercion would help police demolish the wall of silence hindering their investigation.

"There are people who are aware of what happened last week and the week before with those shootings, and they're not talking to police," he told reporters on Monday.

"We are concerned that someone will get hurt from what's happening at the moment, and I think there is an intent to use every resource we possibly can to prevent further instances of what's been occurring."
