Three former Otago Polytechnic students are among 36 designers chosen to show their collections at the iD International Emerging Designer Awards next month.
The finalists were selected from 150 entries from 18 countries by New Zealand designers Tanya Carlson and Sara Munro and fashion editor Dan Ahwa.
Former Otago Polytechnic fashion students Cecily Reed (22), Laura Bennett (21) and Letitia Powell (22) will be among those to display their work at the show, which is Australasia’s only emerging designer competition. Ms Carlson said this year’s finalists were graduates who believed in making a difference in the industry.
"Almost every entry explored the importance of the slow fashion movement but in very different ways.
"The finalists we chose all stood out for their innovation and exceptional creativity."
Twenty-eight of this year’s finalists came from outside New Zealand.
Winners of the emerging designer awards on March 23 will display their collections during iD Dunedin Fashion Week.
