AA roading issues survey canvasses motorists' views

Dunedin motorists are being asked to have their say on issues ranging from the closure of John Wilson Ocean Dr to the city's new parking regime.

The Automobile Association's Otago District Council had emailed about 3000 of its Dunedin members, seeking their feedback on a variety of issues facing the city's road users, AA Otago district manager Nick Horn said.

The move was prompted by a desire to have more empirical data to present to future public submissions on roading issues, he said.

In the past, the association had been identified as an affected party and invited to make submissions on behalf of its members, he said.

"The trouble with it was all the comments were anecdotal, as opposed to based in evidence," he said.

The survey included questions on the closure of John Wilson Ocean Dr, the city's new parking regime, public transport and about the association itself, he said.

The survey was sent to all the association's Dunedin members with email addresses, and would run for two weeks before the data was collated and conclusions drawn, he said.
