Emergency services have been called to a notorious student party in North Dunedin this afternoon.

Both police and St John ambulance were on the scene of the massive keg party on Agnew St after 4.30pm this afternoon.

A St John spokesman said it was assessing two 18-year-old females, one of whom had fallen over and hit her head.

Just before 5pm the party was winding up, with empty bottles and beer boxes strewn on the street.

A woman, who appeared to be intoxicated, was lying on the footpath screaming while being comforted by friends.

A few others, some in fancy dress, continued to party.

The street has periodically hosted keg parties, at times annually like the more well-known Hyde St party.
