Australian fashion showprize money turns up

The long wait for prize winnings from a Sydney fashion show ended for a Dunedin designer yesterday.

Dunedin fashion graduate Emily Scott (21) said $12,500 in prize money was put in her account yesterday for winning the inaugural Australian Graduates Fashion Week in November.

The promoters told her the remainder of the prizes, a cosmetics and an accessories gift pack, would be sent today.

She was ''thrilled'' the promoters were honouring the prizes, Miss Scott said.

''It's a shame it got to the point where it had to go to the media, but I don't know if I would have received the outcome so quickly if I hadn't.''

She had no immediate plans for the prize money but would use it for a fashion project.

''I'm going to use it to further my career. I won't be whittling it away.''
