A parent waves to his child before the choirs begin singing.

The Dunedin Children’s Choir perform.

The programme of songs included a traditional Samoan song, Pepeha by Six60, Nature by The Fourmyula and finished with the New Zealand national anthem.

Dunedin children take part in the choral festival, which is held in seven regional centres around New Zealand. Nationwide, 4500 children take part.

About 1350 children performed over two nights, accompanied by a five-person band.
More than 1300 children from 24 Dunedin schools performed at The Kids Sing, the Otago Primary Schools Choral Festival, in the Dunedin Town Hall across Wednesday and last nights. Peter McIntosh went along to see some of the young singers in action.
