Bannister – Ross Wedding – April 25, 2009
Geoffrey Bannister and Jerri Ross were married on April 25, 2009 at their home in Clearwater, Florida, in the U.S.
Ms. Ross is the daughter of the late Robert P. and the late Roberta E. (Marquand) Ross, both of Kokomo, Indiana. She graduated from Kokomo High School in Kokomo, Indiana in 1971 and DePauw University in Greencastle Indiana in 1975.
Dr. Bannister is the son of the late Leslie Bannister and the late Doris Bannister of Dunedin. He was born in Manchester, England, and raised in Dunedin, where he graduated from Kaikorai Valley High School, and took his B.A. from Otago University in 1967. He took his M.A. with honours from Otago University in 1969 and his Ph.D. from University of Toronto, Canada in 1974.
Dr. Bannister served as Dean, College of Liberal Arts and Dean of the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences at Boston University, in Boston, Massachusetts from 1978 through 1987. From 1988 to 2000 he served as the 17th President of Butler University in Indianapolis, Indiana, in the US.
After leaving Bulter, he co-founded and served as President of The Forum on Education Abroad, a national non-profit entity advocating for standards in the field of Study Abroad. Currently, he is President of Schiller International University with headquarters in Largo, Florida, in the United States and campuses throughout Europe.
The ceremony was attended by a small number of family and friends including Dr. Bannister’s daughter, Kate Gorman and her husband Gareth Gorman of Boston, Massachusetts, along with their daughter, Sophia Anique. In addition, Ms. Ross’ sister, Terri Brock and her brother-in-law, Ken Brock, of Kokomo, Indiana, were in attendance.
The couple will honeymoon in Positano, Italy before returning to their home in Clearwater, Florida.
