Call for expanded Saddle Hill

Green Island, Sunnyvale and Abbotsford should be included in an expanded Saddle Hill Community Board area, board chairman Scott Weatherall says.

He has called for a review of the board’s boundary to the north and northwest, as there was often confusion about the boundary and people did not realise the communities ‘‘technically’’ sat outside the board’s area.

A hearing is to be held tomorrow about the ways residents are represented by the Dunedin City Council, including by community boards.

An independent panel recommended the status quo, including the number of councillors staying at 14 and the six community boards to be retained with their existing boundaries.

Submissions will be considered before the council puts forward its final proposal, probably at the end of this month.
