It was late, but that was better than never, as the University of Otago last night welcomed its 2022 arts fellows.

The five creative leaders who received this year’s awards would normally have been welcomed at the start of the year, but pandemic restrictions meant the function was delayed until August.

Faculty, university management and invited guests were introduced to Sorawit Songsataya (Frances Hodgkins fellow), Albert Belz (Robert Burns fellow), Sean Donnelly (Mozart fellow), Swapna Haddow (children's writer in residence) and Michael Parmenter (Caroline Plummer fellow in community dance), who explained what their time at Otago had meant to them, and what they had spent their time at the university creating.
