Logan Park High School musicians Jacobi Kohu-Morris (15, left) and Blake McAlevey-Scurr (17) provide some entertainment as international pupils at the school celebrate Race Unity Day.

Logan Park High School enrolment dean Kristan Mouat said 80 pupils from more than 30 cultural and ethnic backgrounds introduced themselves to the school in their national costumes during the annual assembly.

The event included singing and dancing, and focused on unity within diversity, and encouraged tolerance and respect within their global village.

The pupils joined Maori and Pakeha pupils to celebrate their differences and acknowledge their unity.

Our journalists are your neighbours

We are the South's eyes and ears in crucial council meetings, at court hearings, on the sidelines of sporting events and on the frontline of breaking news.

As our region faces uncharted waters in the wake of a global pandemic, Otago Daily Times continues to bring you local stories that matter.

We employ local journalists and photographers to tell your stories, as other outlets cut local coverage in favour of stories told out of Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch.

You can help us continue to bring you local news you can trust by becoming a supporter.
