Student flatmates (from left) Rupert Wockner, Josh Harris and Josh Micallef (all 20) collect for the Otago-Southland Cancer Society's Daffodil Day in Dunedin yesterday with the help of an eftpos machine.

People at some stations were able to give using an eftpos machine.

''A lot of people do not carry cash these days,'' Daffodil Day co-ordinator Emma Ramsay Brown said.

The national office had offered the eftpos machines, which were provided through its sponsorship agreement with ANZ, she said.

The society already gave people the option of donating by text or over the phone.

People would also be able to donate in Dunedin today at the Farmers Market and the Edgar Centre.
