China's newly appointed consul-general, Jin Zhijian, inspects the work of Dunedin-based firm Architecture van Brandenburg, with Damien van Brandenburg (right), during a visit to the city yesterday.
The model showcases the company's work in Shenzhen, China, where Architecture van Brandenburg is designing a spectacular complex for fashion label Marisfrolg.
The visit to the company's office was part of Mr Jin's two-day tour of Dunedin, which began with visits to Larnach Castle and the University of Otago yesterday.
Mr Jin also met Mayor Dave Cull before a dinner with members of the Dunedin branch of the New Zealand-Chinese Friendship Association last night.
The tour continues with visits to Toitu Otago Settlers Museum and the Dunedin Chinese Garden today, a tour of Olveston and a stop at Baldwin St. Mr Jin will also pay his respects while visiting Chinese gold miners' graves at the Southern Cemetery.
Mr Jin - accompanied by his wife, He Linyun, consul for economic and commercial affairs Fan Jianghong, and consul for policy and information Luo Songtao - will have dinner with members of the Dunedin's Chinese community before returning to Christchurch tomorrow.
