A man was seriously injured and more than 100 customers lost electricity after a car hit a power pole in Mosgiel yesterday.
A police spokeswoman said the crash in Gladstone Rd South brought down power lines on to the car about 3am and "knocked out" the electricity supply.
No-one had been arrested and police inquiries were ongoing.
A St John spokesman said the driver, aged in his 30s, sustained serious injuries and was taken by ambulance to Dunedin Hospital’s emergency department.
A Delta spokeswoman said power was lost to 105 consumers in Mosgiel after the crash.
Fault crews were deployed and the power pole was replaced and electricity was restored to customers about 8.15am yesterday.
