Several fire crews tackled a house fire in an East Taieri cul-de-sac yesterday.
Dunedin resident and former rural firefighter Warren Gray was driving in Riccarton Rd when he saw a plume of smoke.
A Fire and Emergency New Zealand spokeswoman said they responded to the Orchard Grove fire at 4.15pm.

"There were some young children in the house when it went up. Luckily they made it out," he said.
