More lewd acts reported to Dunedin police

Reports of people performing indecent acts in public continue to reach Dunedin police.

A spokeswoman said they received a report on Wednesday of "someone touching themselves" about 4.40pm in the Concord area.

"A similar event was reported about 3.30pm in the Dunedin Botanic Garden."

Neither offender was located.

The incidents come after Dunedin police were deployed on Saturday after a man reportedly exposed himself to another person on a walkway in St Clair.

The Dunedin Botanic Gardens has been a hot-spot for lewd acts this year.

Last month, a Timaru man plead guilty to slipping a mirror underneath a petrified woman in a toilet cubicle in the gardens, along with a raft of other charges.

On September 15, a security patrol discovered a man behaving indecently in the arboretum, but he was not located by police.

Anyone with information could contact Dunedin police on (03) 471-4800, or on Crimestoppers 0800-555-111.
