Cruise ship Douglas Mawson is berthed at Dunedin’s Fryatt St wharf on Saturday after travelling from Hobart.

The ship was built last year and named for the Australian geologist and Antarctic explorer. This was its maiden voyage to Dunedin.

Upcoming trips include a 34-day voyage from Dunedin to Ushuaia, Argentina's southernmost city, via Antarctica.

Tickets will set you back $77,341.

The ship can accommodate up to 154 passengers and 102 crew.

It left port at 6.08pm on Saturday, bound for Stewart Island.
