It didn’t meant a thing if it didn’t have that swing —  the Dunedin Midwinter Swing Festival hopped and Charlestoned its way into action last night.

Wellington teachers Jen Hale and Nick Kokay were among those tripping the light fantastic at the Savoy Ball last night, the opening event of the festival.

Organised by Swing Riot Dunedin dance club, the three-day swing festival includes workshops, classes for beginners, and late night dance events.

The Savoy Ball was the warm-up for tonight’s main event, the South Island Swing Dance Championships, being held at Toitu Otago Settlers Museum.
