Dunedin's most expensive house - a Maori Hill mansion valued at $4m - has been sold.

Vendor Peter Shepherd last night said he was celebrating selling the house, which had a rateable value of $4.1 million, and went on the market in early March.

He declined to give any details, including the sale price.

The property, at 45 Passmore Cres, Maori Hill, won the 2007 Registered Master Builders House of the Year.

The 820sq m house sits on 3155sq m of land, features a chromed Harley-Davidson V-Rod motorcycle in the foyer and boasts five bedrooms, five bathrooms and two dining areas.

The ground floor includes a home theatre, indoor swimming pool and basement wine cellar with tasting room.
