About 110 people enjoyed a Christmas lunch at the Mosgiel Memorial RSA yesterday, jointly organised by the East Taieri Church and the RSA.

The noon lunch featured baked ham on the bone, new potatoes, carrots and peas and  roast pumpkin, followed by desert, including pavlova, fruit and ice cream.

East Taieri Church facilitator Joy Davis said the eighth annual event had gone "really well — we’re very happy with it".

The event had helped to "bring community together", and for it to have run successfully for eight years showed "the interest and the need for it", she said.

RSA club manager Jill Magon said much food had been prepared over the previous couple of days, and it was "a dream to work" at the lunch because everyone involved was "so happy" to be taking part.

Joyce Cundall, of Momona,  said the lunch was "wonderful, very well done" and a "really nice community-spirited" event.
