New Zealand Motor Caravan Association (NZMCA) Otago chairman Ken Foote said his motel on wheels was a New Zealand-made caravan that came with cooking facilities, fridges and two televisions.
Mr Foote and nearly 300 other motorhome enthusiasts are gathered at the Mosgiel A&P Showgrounds this Labour Weekend to listen to music, have fun and compare notes on motorhomes at the NZMCA Otago Area Bottom of the South Rally.
"There’s always technical things and always someone who’s got the very latest motorhome and they’re always interested to tell people how they work."
Mr Foote said along with comparing caravans, people at the event shared their travel experiences, talked about sport and music and became good friends.

She was a part of a group in the NZMCA called the Freewheelers, who had lost their partners, and travelled together.
"We used to caravan together all the time and it’s just been great to have this group of friends that I can camp with because otherwise it would be a very lonely time."
She and her dog Poppy loved going to the beach and seeing a new sight everyday.
