Fish & Game is warning anglers to renew fishing licences after a steep increase in infringements in Otago this season.
Otago Fish & Game Council officer Nigel Pacey said it was a ''disappointing'' start to the season as 10 offenders were caught without licences in two weeks.
Many were regular-season licence-holders but had not renewed them for the new season, which started on October 1.
''A $21 day-licence bought on a smartphone before they start fishing could save people a huge amount of drama.''
