Callum Fissenden said he was travelling home from the Brass Monkey Rally and wanted to``wash'' the mud from his Nissan Terrano by driving through the ford ``a dozen times'' in Gladfield Rd.
When he approached the ford about 2.30pm he found a submerged Ford ute in the ford.
The Silver Stream was about 1m deep on Sunday, he said.
No-one was with the ute, he said,
The ute was blocking the ford so the cleaning of the Terrano was abandoned.
The ute was salvaged from the ford by members of the public on Sunday night, he said.
