The University of Otago will demolish 70% of the buildings on the site, which they bought in 2008, to make way for a $2.75million, 152-space car park.

University of Otago property services manager Barry MacKay said demolition would finish next week.

Construction of the car park would then begin.

Two warehouses would remain on the site to hold general storage and recycling, Mr MacKay said.

The project would be complete in late February next year.
