Four arrests follow drug raids

Two drugs raids on Wednesday resulted in Dunedin police making four arrests.

Tactical squad team leader Sergeant Chris McLellan said police arrested a 17-year-old youth after they executed a search warrant in a Brockville House in the morning.

Some cannabis seedlings, and items taken during the burglary of a Turnbull St house last week were located at the Brockville address.

The youth was charged with several drugs-related offences.

Later in the day, three people - a 52-year-old man and two 17-year-old youths - were arrested when police executed a search warrant for drugs at a Canongate address.

In addition to a quantity of cannabis found growing under floorboards in the basement of the property, more than $8000 worth of items stolen in three recent commercial burglaries were located at the house, Sgt McLellan said.

The man was bailed to appear in the Dunedin District Court on cannabis-related charges and is likely to face further charges in relation to the discovery of three insecure firearms, magazines and ammunition found in the house.

The youths will face a mix of cannabis-related charges and burglary charges.
