On September 28 last year, more than 35,000 people marched down George St, Dunedin, in protest against planned cuts to the new Dunedin hospital.

Yesterday, Health Minister Simeon Brown announced the hospital inpatient  building would go ahead at the former Cadbury site.

He said the government listened to the people of the South and decided to proceed with the new Dunedin hospital project.
