A Dunedin hotel which was partly damaged by fire last week will be checked out from the accommodation sector for another week.
The vice-president of operations for the Millennium, Copthorne and Kingsgate Hotels NZ, Matt Taplin, said the Kingsgate Hotel was to reopen this week, but that would now be delayed until February 27.
"Unfortunately, the repairs and clean-up process will take longer than originally anticipated so we will push out the reopening date.
"We will be contacting all guests who have reservations with us before that date and will be assisting them to make alternate arrangements for their stay."
Last Monday, hotel guests and staff fled as firefighters fought to control the blaze.
A Fire Service investigation found the fire started near a bed in a room on the second floor of the 55-room hotel.
One room and a nearby hallway were extensively damaged in the fire, four other rooms were damaged by heat and smoke, and the entire building had smoke damage.
