Libraries add DCC services

Waikouaiti coast residents will be able to pay their rates and register dogs at local libraries from next month.

The Blueskin Bay and Waikouaiti libraries will be offering the increased services from July 4.

The move will bring them in line with the libraries at Port Chalmers and Mosgiel in offering a full range of Dunedin City Council service centre functions.

Dunedin Public Libraries customer experience manager Mike Collett said the change would allow residents to access additional services such as paying rates and parking infringements and applying for consents and rates rebates.

Opening hours at both facilities would be extended to allow residents to access the changes.

Blueskin Bay librarian Louise Booth said the services would be of great convenience to residents.

Waikouaiti librarian Eryn Makinson described the move as a "win-win'' for customers and library staff.

"We will be providing an increased range of services and we expect this will bring more people through our doors, including people who may not be current library users.''

Blueskin Bay Library will be open from 2pm-6pm Monday to Friday, 10am-noon Wednesday to Friday and 10am-1pm on Saturday.

Waikouaiti Library will be open 1.30pm-5.30pm Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, 10am-5.30pm on Wednesday, 10am-8pm on Friday and 10am-1pm on Saturday.
