A man allegedly indecently exposed himself and performed a lewd act in front of a female pedestrian in central Dunedin yesterday morning.
Senior Sergeant Mel Aitken said a male driver carried out a U-turn after spotting the pedestrian outside the Salvation Army premises in Princes St.
He allegedly then approached the woman and performed a lewd act, Snr Sgt Aitken said.
Police urged any victims in a similar situation to seek a place of safety and call them immediately.
"It is vital we get that information quickly," Snr Sgt Aitken said.
The man's vehicle was described as a green and black hatchback, and anyone with information was urged to contact police.
