More reports of prowler

Police were called to a central Dunedin address on Thursday following reports of a prowler outside a property, the second such incident in a week.

Sergeant Chris George, of Dunedin, said the incident occurred at 10.30pm in Haddon Pl.

Last week, a man was caught behaving indecently in the same area.

Residents were urged to report any suspicious behaviour to the police.

• A car parked at a central Dunedin supermarket was vandalised and sprayed with racist graffiti yesterday.

Police were called to Countdown supermarket at 3.30am, after a car's windscreen was broken and its panels kicked in.

It was then spray-painted with a swastika and the initials "WP".

A CD player and a wetsuit were stolen from the vehicle.

• Dunedin police are looking for the driver who fled the scene after a van hit a power pole at the corner of Cobden St and Heriot Row at 3.30am on Thursday, Sgt George said.

Attempts to locate the driver had been unsuccessful and anyone with information was asked to contact police.

• Police are appealing for information after three cars were damaged after being shunted forward by another vehicle on Thursday night.

Constable Sally Hulls, of South Dunedin, said cars in Calder St, Ajax St and Bay View Rd were shunted by a larger vehicle, possible a 4WD, between 11pm and 7am.

One of the cars received major damage.
