Police yesterday posted a photograph of Shaun Reynolds, who is wanted on driving-related charges.
The smiling mugshot triggered dozens of comments - some of them derogatory.
Now Mary Sharp, who has identified herself as Mr Reynolds' mother, has added her own comment saying she wishes "he would come back to the person he used to be."
"It breaks my heart that this is the Merry Christmas we all face this year. Good luck to you. laugh if you must . . . I guess you that's pretty much the only thing one can expect these days."
Her plea has stuck a chord, getting 34 likes and several comments endorsing her views.
