Rain accompanied the graduands during the 1pm procession from First Church to the town hall on Saturday but they were cheered on by a crowd of friends and family in George St.

"You’re struggling together because it’s cold and yuck, but you’re also having fun together.
"There’s a family feeling, like a closeness, so you don’t feel like you’re away from home," Miss Bhatia said.

Mr Mitten said moving to Dunedin after a semester at Auckland University of Technology was one of the best decisions he had ever made.
"It’s been a hell of a journey.
"You just make mates for life, you bond with people that you would never have bonded with in high school and you sort of share the experience of going into a flat and doing the whole university experience together."
Miss Bhatia and Mr Mitten said they had met each other in their first year at hall of residence University College.
The pair said they were "ready for the real world" and looking forward to getting jobs.
Two ceremonies were held on Saturday, at 1pm and 4pm. More than 600 graduated in person.
