No word on when toilet will reopen

One of Dunedin’s most well used public toilets remains out of action and in need of maintenance.

The Dunedin City Council did not yet have a timeframe for work on the St Clair Exeloo loo, but should do so in the coming weeks, a council spokesman said.

"In the meantime, there are two other public toilets at the same location, in a building adjoining the Exeloo, and these remain open for the public to use."

Signage was being updated to direct people to them.

"We can’t say whether the Exeloo is the most used public toilet in Dunedin, but we are certainly aware it is well used by Dunedin’s surfing community."

The availability of alternative public toilets in the area limited any inconvenience.
