Pair kicked unconscious

Police are investigating an assault at the Otago Museum Reserve, Dunedin, on Thursday night which resulted in two men requiring hospital treatment for their injuries, including multiple fractures and concussion.

The two men were walking through the reserve about 10.15pm when they were approached by three males who were unknown to them, police said.

After an argument between the two groups, the three males assaulted the other men, punching them to the ground and repeatedly kicking them until they were unconscious.

The offenders were described as Caucasians aged between 20 to 25.

One of them had a tattoo of the word "Aotearoa" on the inside of his right tricep.

This man was described as of solid build, about 1.9m tall, and about 100kg.

Acting Senior Sergeant Simon Mapp said police would like to hear from any witnesses who were not spoken to by the police on the night.

Anyone with information was asked to contact Constable Jo Tiszavari at the Dunedin central police station.
